There is a National Register Of Historic Places plaque on the inside wall of it, and stones above each keystone marking it as built in 1840 and rebuilt 1866. Both trails follow the former Northern Central Railway corridor, which once connected Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Baltimore, Maryland. This trail is well maintained (at least the PA portion, I've not yet gone below the MD line); and the railroad museum and cafe in New Freedom is a welcome and comfortable rest stop.
